  • Vision and Values | Lighthouse Family Church

Discover the vision and values of Lighthouse Family Church and how we pursue God’s mission to impact our city and beyond. OUR VALUES RESPECT People matter, so we will treat one another with dignity and respect, being patient with one another as we grow together in community. PURPOSE We believe in the local church, flawed as we are. It remains the means of reaching the world, so the church should therefore engage the community in which it is situated. HONOUR We honour God and His Word as the highest authority in our lives, as well as respecting God’s delegated authorities on earth. GRACE We live in a culture of grace where we accept one another without compromising on truth. WORSHIP We believe that God has given everyone a gift with which we are called to serve Him, as an act of worship, to the best of our ability. TRANSPARENCY Our faith is expressed best when we are honest, humble, child-like, and without pretense. VISION AND VALUES A COMMUNITY OF EVERYDAY PEOPLE FOLLOWING AND GROWING TOGETHER FAMILY We believe that God calls us to family so we do our part in building family values. UNITY We are called to unity so we will respect and value the diversity of the body of Christ CHARACTER We believe Christ-like character is normal for every Christian and we hold each other accountable to the Word of God. JOURNEY We understand that we are all at different stages on the same journey of faith, and we will help each other along the way. FREEDOM Since Christ has set us free from the bondages of sin, dead works and religiosity, we make it our goal to grow in our understanding of who we are in Christ, and to walk in greater freedom. RELEVANCE We recognise that God desires to reach this generation, so that we can accept change as inevitable as we continuously seek to be relevant. WHAT WE BELIEVE AT LIGHTHOUSE We believe the Old and New Testament Scriptures are inspired by God. They are the final authority for what we believe and how we live. We believe there is one God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is fully God and fully human. We believe every believer has direct access to God and is called to serve Him. This is the priesthood of all believers. We believe there will be a resurrection of all people. Those who belong to Christ will experience eternal life with Him. Those who reject salvation will remain separated from God. We believe Jesus gave the church two practices: baptism and communion. We observe them in obedience to Him and as ongoing reminders of the central truths of the Christian faith. We believe God created humanity in His image. Humanity sinned and brought both physical and spiritual death into the world. Because of this, every person is born with a sinful nature. We believe Jesus Christ died for our sins as our substitute, as the Scriptures teach. Everyone who places their faith in Him is forgiven and made right with God through His sacrifice. We believe Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now lives as our High Priest and Advocate. We believe Jesus Christ will personally return. We believe the Holy Spirit is a person who brings new life to believers and lives within them. We believe that everyone who receives Jesus Christ by faith is born again through the Holy Spirit and becomes a child of God. We believe baptism is the immersion of a believer in water. It publicly identifies a person with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection. Communion is the sharing of bread and wine as symbols of Christ’s body and blood. We practice it in remembrance of His sacrifice until He returns. We believe every Christian is called to live a holy life, devoted to Jesus Christ and committed to serving Him. This includes displaying the fruit of the Spirit and using the spiritual gifts God gives.
