MISSIONS

mission.png

At Lighthouse our vision is 'to impact our city and beyond with the Kingdom of God' and so missions both local and to the ends of the earth are part of our mandate.

We have for many years partnered with various ministries that serve the poorest of the poor around our city where the need is great. More recently, we have also initiated partnerships with churches and other remote ministries where the needs are also great.

Gary Hempel has built up extensive experience in a variety of missions spaces over the years and currently leads our Mission Team. Please get in touch with him if you want to know more.

LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS

The Ubomi Obutsha Centre is based in Kwazakhele and headed up by Mark Lawler, a member of Lighthouse. This project serves poor and vulnerable families in their community through a wide variety of activities that are packaged within their home-grown Family Focus programme.

Jeannie's Soup Kitchen

Jeannie Edwards oversees Jeannie's Soup Kitchen, which operates from Extension 6, next to Malabar. Jeannie’s vision is simply to feed the hungry and Jeannie has been serving this desperate community for over 20 years. Jeannie’s team trust God for the provision of their needs to serve 5 meals per week to hundreds of individuals.

Pilot My Future

Debbie Hemmens leads Pilot my Future which is a mentoring and educating ministry aimed at equipping children, young adults and adults with preventative strategies that empower them to create a safer future.

Gugu's Homework Club

Hands On Homework Club is a new education support programme in Walmer Township run by Gugu Matiwana. The programme offers tutored support for schoolchildren from the area.

Mhlali's House

Mhlali's House is a safe-home for abandoned and vulnerable infants and is overseen by Richard and Kate Cathcart. These babies are frequently rescued from situations of abandonment or unsafe environments and, at Mhlali's House, they receive the unconditional love, protection, and the dignity they need. These infants are also regularly prayed over as they receive care, and they typically move on to loving foster or adoptive homes when they are ready.

APOSTOLIC PARTNERSHIPS

These partnerships involve working alongside local churches to foster their growth and promote the advancement of the Kingdom. A significant portion of these efforts is facilitated through our affiliation with Immerse, a network of churches that unite in their spiritual growth journey to bring about the realisation of God's Kingdom on earth. We provide continuous support to two dedicated pastors, Vuyisile Fulmeni and Zola Moses, who are actively serving the communities.

GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS

We maintain regular contact with pastors and ministries in some of the most unreached regions of the world.
