- GIVING1 | Lighthouse
At Lighthouse, we have tried to honour God and His Word in the principles of giving and to be open with all members in our financial management. So it’s important for all our members to understand our values as a church and the role that each person plays. Firstly, our budget is made up entirely from the tithes and giving from the membership. We receive no outside funding and so all our income is from these offerings. Much of the budget goes towards ongoing operational costs, the rest towards ministry and we aim towards 25% of our budget to be towards mission, including our tithe. Secondly, all financial matters are regulated and conducted with wisdom, faith and transparency. No one person has access to the accounts, all financial requests have to be approved, and the church membership is informed of the budget which they will then vote on, meaning that the members participate in the process. Thirdly, we believe in being generous because our Father is generous towards us. With that as a value, we don’t believe in giving out of guilt or coercion, so we never put any pressure on our members, rather we invite all of us to participate in this grace of giving ( 2 Cor 8:7 ) and we know the Lord honours our hearts and provides for all our needs. To sum up, our guiding Scriptures give us clarity on giving: Malachi 3:10-11 speaks very clearly about the importance of tithing and the blessing that God wants to bring into our lives as we give. So it’s not seen as a burden under the law, but rather an opportunity to engage with God in faith. Matthew 23:23. To those that argue that you don’t find any reference to tithing in the New Testament, Jesus interestingly mentions it in this passage. Clearly, Jesus did not see the need to do away with tithing. 2 Corinthians 9:7. Here, Paul speaks of the person with a Kingdom heart of giving….To be led by the Spirit and to do so cheerfully. That is what we aim for. Our banking details are as follows: Lighthouse Family Church First National Bank Account No: 62044380046 Branch Code: 261050
- ABOUT US | Lighthouse
PASTORAL STAFF Lead Pastor: Trevor Anderson I was born and raised in Port Elizabeth, studied at UPE and started my working career at First National Bank. It was during my varsity studies that I started to feel God’s call on my life. While at the bank I began to prepare for ministry, first by correspondence and then moving to Cape Town to finish my theology degree. It was there I met Kim and we were married in 1997. From 2002 I have had the privilege of pastoring Lighthouse Family Church, which has been an exciting journey in itself. I love seeing the Kingdom of God at work, in it’s many forms, and seeing believers come to maturity in Christ. When I’m not involved in ministry, you may find me in the kitchen preparing some Asian dishes, or painting a seascape in oils, I am also a long suffering, now fulfilled Liverpool FC supporter. Trevor Anderson: trevor@lhfc.co.za Associate Pastor: Marc Hemmens I am husband to Debbie and father to Anthony, Jodie and Sarah. It’s been an adventure to watch how God has been with us through life and has led us all towards following him in our own unique ways. I get to lead the community group ministry, preach, and contribute in several other pastoral activities. Debbie and I have a passion to build and support marriages, and we dream of a multi-cultural church and society where honour and respect reign in deference to Jesus. I love our church for the way we pursue God in the fulness of his Spirit, and the way we’re never too far from a good laugh. Marc Hemmens: marc@lhfc.co.za Children's Pastor: Kim Anderson I grew up in the leafy suburb of Pinelands, Cape Town. After school I studied beauty therapy. In 1995 I met Trevor and after we married in 1997, I moved to Port Elizabeth. I have always had a passion for children and have taught Children’s Church since I was 16. After completing my Educare training, I became a preschool teacher in 2007. In 2015, God opened the door for me to run the Children’s Church here at Lighthouse full time. I love seeing the light come on in the eyes of children as they learn about God.I desire for women to see their identity as God does. In my spare time, I enjoy handwork, puzzles and reading; and I’m a bit of a reality TV follower. Kim Anderson: kim@lhfc.co.za Youth Pastor & Young Adults : Cuan Geere I was born and raised in Port Elizabeth. I attended St Marks Community School for high school, matriculating in 2012. - Into the Son 2025 | Lighthouse
Into the Son 2025 Dates: 15-18 July | Location: VCSV/UCSA Campsite, Jeffreys Bay High schoolers — this one's for you. For over 20 years, Into the Son has been more than just a camp — it’s been a meeting place with God, a time to laugh, grow, worship, and walk deeper into the life He has for you. This year, we’re gathering again in the heart of Jeffreys Bay. Our theme for 2025 is "His Kingdom Come" , and we couldn’t be more expectant. In a world that constantly shouts me first, we’re slowing down to hear the quiet, powerful call of Jesus: “Seek first the Kingdom.” Through worship, teaching, friendships, fun, and time in His presence, we’re praying that every young person who comes will be captivated by the beauty of God's will — and courageously choose to follow it. The Details The camp runs over 4 incredible days during the June/July holidays All meals included — you bring the appetite, we’ll handle the rest Separate dorms for guys and girls, each with their own leader Set in the beautiful Jeffreys Bay, with supervised free time to explore safely What does a typical day look like? Each day at camp is well-structured and thoughtfully planned. We have two main sessions — one in the morning and one in the evening — which include a fun ice-breaker, a time of worship, and a message. After the morning session, campers take part in workshops that help them engage more practically with the theme. The afternoon is mostly free time, with space to relax, connect, and enjoy the surroundings within set boundaries. Year after year, we’ve watched God move in powerful and personal ways at this camp. Lives are changed, hearts are marked, and young people leave more in love with Jesus. We’re believing for even more this year — and we’d love for you to be part of it. Registrations are open now! Use the Google Form below to sign up. You’ll find key info like what to pack and banking details on this page and in the form. We kindly ask that all payments be made at least one week before camp starts to help us with planning. If any parents are able and willing to assist with transport on the Tuesday (arrival) or Friday (departure) of camp, we would really appreciate the help — there’s a space in the form to let us know. Let this be the year you say yes — yes to His Kingdom coming in your life, yes to His call, and yes to the adventure of following Jesus. Whether you’ve been walking with Him for years or are still figuring things out, Into the Son is a space where you can meet with God in a real way, surrounded by people who are on the same journey. Don’t miss it. We can’t wait to welcome you, worship with you, laugh with you — and see what God will do.
