Wrapping it up

So, we have come to the end of our series called FOCUS: LOOKING AT SOME OF THE BIG QUESTIONS. To be honest, these are questions we don't often think about that much, but are important for us to know. Allow me to leave two thoughts with you as we wrap it up...

Firstly, let us remind ourselves of 1 Peter 3:15 which calls us to always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks us the reason for the hope that we have... And to do this with gentleness and respect. If we are to be light and salt in the earth, then this stuff matters. How sad if a work colleague came to us and asked us a question which we could not answer, and we just left it and walked away! Let's be prepared - the world is searching for answers and in need of hope.

Secondly, let's be clear in our minds that world views matter, and determine how we make sense of the world. Let's contrast the Christian view and atheist view in a nutshell. The atheist view starts with the premise that there is no God; there is no creator or lawgiver; the universe and our world is all that there is; with no ultimate right and wrong we all have to try and find our way; no intrinsic value to mankind; we are just advanced beasts, slaves to our genes and hopefully strong enough to survive. It produces a selfish, hedonistic world with increasingly broken people with no hope!

Contrast that with the Biblical view that starts with God, creating the world and mankind in His image; all life is therefore valuable; we have the capacity for moral reasoning and choices; God's presence in our lives gives us security and hope, and makes the most sense in understanding the 4 big questions of origins, morality, meaning and destiny.

What kind of world do you want to be part of? It's a message worth sharing.
